Awards at the Baptist
Awards night for the Upward program will be April 10 at 6:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Aurora, with Christian illusionist Brett A. Myers performing. Individuals are needed to help serve ice cream.
All youngsters age 2 to third grade are invited to the church's annual Easter egg hunt April 12 at 10 a.m. It will be indoors in the worship-activity center and fellowship hall. Candy donations are welcome in the box in the foyer.
Steve Hopkins, Bible teaching and leadership resource group leader from the State Convention of Baptists, will speak April 13.
Harvest items needed
Canned goods and soap of all types are needed, and Christ Community Chapel's next Community Harvest collections will be April 13 and 27. Students in grades 6 to 12 will have a retreat April 12-13 in Erie, Pa.
Men are invited to play whirlyball and head to the Winking Lizard for wings on April 10 from 7 to 9 p.m. Cost is $10. More information about the next trip to Atlanta on Aug. 21-23 is available from Michael Ammirati.
Moms Together will meet April 17 at 9:15 a.m., when Janelle Alberts will speak on "Another Day in Diapers and Incoherent Conversations."
"Christ in the Passover" will be April 17 at 7 p.m. at the Hudson campus. Guest speaker is Tuvya Zaretsky from Jews for Jesus.
A Good Friday service will be April 18 at 7 p.m. and an Easter egg hunt for youngsters will be April 19 from 1 to 3 p.m.
3-H group will gather
The Church in Aurora's 3-H Evening Group will meet April 10 at 6 p.m. in the Eldridge Library to continue knitting and crocheting projects and to discuss chapters 15 and 16 of its study.

A interment ceremony will take place April 12 in Amherst for longtime church members Bob and Lila Mae Prittie. The work camp spaghetti dinner and silent auction will be May 4 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Aurora High School. Tickets are available after all April services except Easter.
Holy Week planned
Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Bainbridge Township will observe Holy Week with worship services on Palm Sunday (April 13) at 8:15, 9:31 and 10:45 a.m., Maundy Thursday (April 17) at 7:30 p.m. and Good Friday (April 18) at 7:30 p.m.
Lord of Life also will participate with the Chagrin Valley Council of Churches in the Stations of the Cross observance, which begins at noon on Good Friday at the Chagrin Falls triangle. The community is invited to attend any or all of these observances.
Holy Week begins with Palm Sunday, which commemorates the triumphant entrance of Jesus into Jerusalem. Maundy Thursday at Lord of Life is observed with Holy Communion. Good Friday commemorates the day that Jesus was crucified.
Egg extravaganza set
Everyone is invited to Hope Community Church's annual Easter egg extravaganza April 19 on the south end of Sunny Lake Park in Aurora. Activities are from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m., with the hunt at 3:30. It is for children from birth to 12 years old. For details, visit www.hopecma.com or call 330.655.5170.
Egg hunt, service set
Aurora United Methodist children up to 11 years old are invited to an Easter egg hunt April 12 at 10 a.m. Participants should take their own baskets. There will be other games and crafts.
Palm Sunday will be observed April 13 at 10:30 a.m. with selections from Handel's "Messiah" by several students from Cleveland Instititute of Music.
Girl Scouts will meet April 13 from 4 to 8 p.m., while the Girl Scout service unit will gather April 14 at 6 p.m., UMM's No Man Left Behind will be April 15 at 7 p.m. and the praise team will rehearse at 7:30 p.m.
Roof will be replaced
Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church will begin work on a roof replacement project soon. An anonymous gift of about $159,000 will allow the work to start, and the entire project will take two to three years.
Palm Sunday is April 13, with Masses April 12 at 4:30 p.m. and April 13 at 9 and 11 a.m. Parishioners are urged to wear red to Mass in preparation for Holy Week.
