Memorial service set

A memorial service will take place March 22 at 3 p.m. at Aurora Mennonite Church for the Rev. Lawrence Brunk, who was pastor at the church from 1978-87. A meal will follow.

The pastoral communications relations committee will meet with the Rev. Jim Sutton on March 9 for a question and answer session over lunch.

A Mennonite Women's Sewing Organization family enrichment event will be March 1 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Lunch will be provided, and activities will include knotting comforters and children making quilt squares to be assembled for the church auction in June.

Service, meetings set

An Ash Wednesday service at the Church in Aurora will be March 5 at 7:30 p.m. The Women's Guild will meet March 12 at 11:30 a.m. to discuss allocation of Nutcracker Sweets money to Coleman Adult Day Care Center in Ravenna and Miller Community House in Kent.

The next work camp meeting will be March 9 at 5 p.m., when committees for the spaghetti dinner will be assigned and final payments for work camp will be collected.

Circle 3H will meet March at 9:30 a.m. The workcampers made more than $500 from the sale of boxes of chocolate candy and suckers made by Circle 3H.

Church youths will host a potato bar during coffee hours on March 16. All proceeds will benefit a charity to be determined by the youths.

3-H Evening Group will gather March 13 at 6 p.m. to share Chapters 13 and 14 titled "The Sign Gifts" and "The Fruit of the Spirit."

OLPH family program

The third session of this year's family program at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church will be March 2 after the 11 a.m. Mass. The luncheon committee will provide the meal.

All religious education students should take their books for review, and everyone should take their palms from last year's Palm Sunday for a special burning ritual in preparation for Ash Wednesday.

Passion play rehearsals for "Make Us Believers" are Wednesdays from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the church. The play will be presented April 9 at 7:30 p.m., with a reception afterward in the parish hall.

A parish Lenten retreat day will be March 8 from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with Deacon Greg Kandra. Lunch will be served and child care will be available. The public is invited at $15 per person or $25 per couple. Call 330-562-8519 for reservations by March 3.

Lent soup suppers will be Wednesdays at 6 p.m. from March 12 to April 2, followed by 10-minute witnesses.

The Appalachian Experience group from St. Joseph Church in Mantua will have a rummage sale March 12 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and March 13 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall on Route 44. For details, call Kathi Trares at 330-274-2253 or Margie Cleary at 330-274-7274.

OLPH's St. Patrick's Day dinner will be March 9 at 4 p.m. Cost is $11 for adults and $9 for ages 5 to 12. Tickets are on sale after Masses and in the parish office. For details, email mcorrigan@olphaurora.org.

Fish fries are on tap

Holy Angels Church on Route 306 in Bainbridge Township will offers fish fries on the Fridays of Lent from 5 to 7:30 p.m. (except Good Friday). Dinners include fried and baked fish, shrimp, macaroni and cheese clam chowder, pizza and weekly specials such as potato pancakes and pierogies. Baptist luncheon set

A luncheon is planned March 9 after worship at the First Baptist Church. It is New Orleans themed, and participants are asked to take a dish inspired by New Orleans or Lousiana, such as Cajun or creole style.

Class to start at CCC
A new adult class on fundamental Christian briefs will begin March 16 at 11 a.m. at Christ Community Chapel.  It will run for six weeks and will be taught by the church’s pastors. Sign up at www.aurora.ccchapel.com/events.
Vacation Bible camp will run June 23-27. Members should check the church bulletin for more information.
Anyone interested in going on a mission trip to the Back2Back orphanage in Mexico should attend an info session March 16 at 12:45 p.m. at the Hudson campus.
On March 20, a Change a Life tour featuring Audio Adrenaline, Jutless and Finding Favour will be at 7 p.m. at the Hudson campus. Tickets are $18 in advance and $20 at the door.
