Community dinner slated

Aurora Mennonite Church's next community dinner will be Jan. 18 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. The main entree will be Salisbury steak. Cost is $8.50 for adults and $4.50 for children ages 4 to 11. The meal includes a salad bar, two side dishes, dessert and a beverage.

The family enrichment committee has scheduled a bingo night Jan. 11 at 6 in the church. Participants should take a wrapped "white elephant" gift and a favorite snack to share. See Kristen Chittick if you have any questions.

The plan for 2013 is to have at least one liaison from each church represented in the Neighbor 2 Neighbor program. Anyone interested in representing Aurora Mennonite should inform Pastor Tim Schultz or the church secretary.

The food drive provides canned or non-perishable food items for the food pantry at the Volunteers of America. The plan this year is to raise $6,000 to replenish food during the summer months.

Other coming events are: Jan. 9 -- youth group at 7 p.m.; Jan. 10 -- MWSO at 9:30 a.m. and Cub Scouts at 7 p.m.; Jan. 6 -- Krista Allen as guest speaker at the morning service and Cub Scouts at 5 p.m.; Jan. 16 -- small group at the Schwartzes; Jan. 20 -- Cub Scouts at 5 p.m.; Jan. 22 -- pastors fellowship of Aurora at noon; Jan. 24 -- Cub Scouts at 7 p.m..

New Bible study to start

A new Bible study begins tonight (Jan. 9) at 7 at Aurora United Methodist Church called "Grace: More Than We Deserve, Greater Than We Imagine." Over seven weeks, the group will study Max Lucado's book.

A new confirmation class for teens interested in becoming members of the church will begin Jan. 13 and meet every Sunday from noon to 2 p.m.

Pastor Jared Priset and Phil and Marian Vernon will host a Middle Eastern dinner and share their trip to the Holy Land last summer. Everyone is welcome.

The men's fellowship will gather Jan. 15 at 7:30 p.m. at Bob Evans in Bainbridge. A men's breakfast will be Jan. 20 at 8 a.m. at the church.

Adult Sunday school meets at 9:15 a.m. to study "The Historical Jesus" and tenn Sunday school is at 9:30 a.m. studying "Paul in Rome: Ancient Truths for Today's Culture."

Prayer gatherings are Wednesdays at 10 a.m. in the church.

3H group meets Jan. 10

The 3H Evening Group at the Church in Aurora will meet Jan. 10 at 6 p.m. to review Chapters 21 and 22. Participants should take prayer shawls, prayer squares and baby blankets.

Offering envelopes for 2013 are available for those who requested them on the desk next to the Chrismon tree in the Great Hall. A 2013 altar flower signup sheet is on the bulletin board near the kitchen in fellowship hall.

The nominating committee needs two church members for receptions and fellowship committee slots. Contact the office, the Rev. Bill Schnell or Gordon Ober if interested.

Yoga classes in the Great Hall continue at 1`0 a.m. Fridays. A five-class pass will be available at 25 percent savings through January. For details, call Kris Radzanowski at 330-221-4037.

Women's Guild will meet today (Jan. 9) at 11:30 a.m. for a soup, salad or dessert luncheon. Caroline Urban, the "Apron Lady" will speak.

A Red Cross bloodmobile will be at the church Jan. 14 from 1 to 7 p.m.

Game night set at Hope

An "Everybody's a Winner" game night will be Jan. 25 at 6:30 p.m. at Hope Lutheran Church. Pizza and drinks will be available.

Women's Bible study meets Thursdays at 1:30 p.m. and adult Bible study is Sundays at 9 a.m. AA meets Saturdays at 7:30 p.m.

Men's Bible study and breakfast is the third Saturday of each month at 9 a.m. Hope Christian Nursery School is registering children ages 3 to 5. Call 330-562-8660 or visit www.hopeaurora.org/HCNS/

Mook speaks on Jan. 13

Richard Mook will speak at the Jan. 13 service about how God has sustained him through the loss of the nine closest people in his life at First Baptist Church in Aurora.

The church's office is closed through Jan. 11.

Intense Ministry from Texas will be at the church Jan. 20 to share a message about true strength in Christ. The serrvices are at 10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Mission trip info coming

Christ Community Chapel members who wish to learn more about upcoming mission trips should attend a meeting Jan. 13 at 12:15 p.m. For details, email Cassie.Schenck@ccchapel.com.

Toothbrushes and toothpaste are critical needs for the Community Harvest collectioin this month. Also needed are shampoo, body soap, rzors and hand and dish soap. Donations can be dropped off in the foyer.

Moms Together will meet Jan. 17 at 9:15 a.m. Jesse Prentiss, the creator of Gleaner's Guild, will be speaker. Register your child online for free child care at www.aurora.ccchapel.com/women.

Anyone who has cell phones which they no longer need is urged to drop it off at the church office. The Global Outreach Ministry can trade in the old phones for money to be used for mission trips.
