Business meeting slated
Aurora Mennonite Church's annual congregational business meeting will take place Jan. 6 after the morning service. Annual reports, the 2013 budget and officers and committees will be voted on.
Other coming events are: Tonight (Jan. 2) -- youth group and small group at the Schwartzes at 7 p.m.; Jan. 6 -- communion at the morning service; Jan. 7 -- pastor/elders meeting at 7 p.m. at the pastor's house; Jan. 8 -- board meeting at 8 p.m.; Jan. 10 -- MWSO and Cub Scouts at 7 p.m.; Jan. 11 -- family enrichment bingo night at 6 p.m.
Workcamp gathering set
The next workcamp parent/participant meeting at the Church in Aurora will be Jan. 6 at 5 p.m. in fellowship hall. The group will plan for Super Bowl subs Sunday and a bake sale. For more info about workcamp, call the Eavensons at 330-995-6268.
The 3H Evening Group will meet Jan.. 10 at 6 p.m. to review Chapters 21 and 22 and make prayer shawls, prayer squares and baby blankets.
Orders of subs for the annual Super Bowl sub Sunday sale can be made Jan. 13, 20 and 27. A bake sale will take place on pickup day Feb. 3. For details, call Megan Williamson at 440-823-3903.
Morning 3H will not meet in January. Members will make and wrap candy at the February meeting. The candy will be sold by the workcampers prior to Valentine's Day.
Toddy's Christmas Shoppe was a huge success prior to Christmas, raising nearly $1,000 for the workcamp fund. Also, he Nutcracker Sweets annual event raised $20,000, with $5,000 divided between the Place of Peace and Portage County Clothing Center.
Mission of the month for January is Providence House, one of the nation's oldest operating crisis nurseries in the United States and Canada.
The Women's Guild will meet Jan. 9, when Caroline Urban -- the Apron Lady -- will present the program. Participants should take soup, salad or dessert to share or $5 if they do not take one of those item. Martha Gray will share devotions.
Small group study starts
A new small group Bible study will begin Jan. 9 at Aurora United Methodist Church. The topic is "Grace: More Than We Deserve, Greater Than We Imagine." It will run Wednesdays at 7 p.m. Cost of the book and participants' guide is $10.
Teen Sunday school at 9:30 a.m. focuses on "Paul in Rome: Ancient Truths for Today's Culture."
Prayer gatherings are offered Wednesdays at 10 a.m. in the church. Communion is offered on the fourth Wednesday of the month. The next men's fellowship session will be Jan. 15 at 7:30 p.m. at Bob Evans. The next men's breakfast will be Jan. 20 at 8 a.m. in the church.
A new confirmation class for those wishing to join the church will start Jan. 13.
Women's nights out are the second Tuesday of each month. The next one is Jan. 8.
Bible studies will begin
Two women's Bible studies will be offered this winter at Christ Community Chapel in Aurora. One is "Balance at the Speed of Life" for mothers and "Respectable Sins" for all women. They will meet Thursdays at 9:15 a.m. starting Jan. 10. Child care will be available. The latter will have an additional session Thursdays at 7 p.m. starting Jan. 17, but child care is not available.
Beginning in January, high school and middle school students will meet for catechism in etweern serrvices at 10:35 a.m. For details, visit www.newcitycatechism.com.
A new CLC group is forming for men and will meet at 6 a.m. on a weekday at a location in the ainbridge/Chagrin Falls/Solon area to be determined. For details, call Jonathan Husni at 216-650-7991.

Prayer meetings take place Saturdays at 7 p.m. at New Life Assembly of God in the Geauga Lake area. Sunday services are at 10:30 a.m.
