New eatery slated
With spring just around the corner, the Twin Lakes area north of Kent will gain a new dining establishment at a familiar location.
The Black Iron Grille will occupy the site on Route 43, where the Rusty Nail was located for 47 years until it closed in June 2014.
The site, which had sustained considerable damage while it was vacant, was purchased in 2016 by Patricia Martin with plans to operate it as a steakhouse and bar. Martin's son, Jonathan Biscardi, will serve as head chef.
A graduate of the University of Akron, Biscardi has worked in the restaurant business his entire life. He has overseen the entire renovation project on the former Rusty Nail building.
"We're very near completion and we're very excited," Martin said. "We've had our moments, as all businesses have, but I know it will be worth it in the end. I can't wait for us to be open."
There is no current opening date set.
