Aurora Police Reports-Sept. 7

Theft from vehicles: A Staten Island man reported Aug. 29 that a guitar, case and phone charger cord were taken from his unlocked vehicle parked on East Pioneer Trail. The value was estimated at $160.

A Cobblestone Road man reported Aug. 29 sports equipment and a GPS unit valued at $1,000 were taken from his parked vehicle. Police said he didn't know if it was locked.

Burglary/domestic violence: An Aurora man was charged with burglary and domestic violence Aug. 29 after police said he broke a window to enter his ex-girlfriend's home. The woman confronted him and a verbal argument ensued. The woman called police and the man was arrested and taken to the Portage County Jail. He was treated at the scene by Aurora paramedics for cuts received from crawling through the window.

Missing instrument: An Aurora woman reported a lost or stolen instrument from a local school. No value was given.

Found passport: A woman turned in a passport she found Aug. 27 on the sidewalk in front of the high school. Officers were unsuccessful in contacting the person on the passport, so they were holding it until claimed.

Warrant transfer: A Sullivan, Ohio man was transferred Aug. 30 from Cleveland Clinic-Twinsburg to Aurora police custody on a warrant for fictitious plates. He was taken to the Portage County Jail.

Harassment: A Mentor man was charged Aug. 25 with telecommunications harassment and menacing by stalking after police said he disregarded an officer's instructions to have no contact with an Aurora woman.

Found keys: An Aurora woman reported she found a set of keys in the roadway and put them on a nearby mailbox on Eldridge Road. An officer retrieved them for safe keeping until they could be claimed.

Assault: An Aurora woman was charged Aug. 28 with domestic violence after her ex-boyfriend, a Cleveland man, reported being assaulted by her. She was taken to the Portage County Jail. The man was checked out at the scene by Aurora paramedics.


Hit-skip accident: An Aurora man was apprehended in Kent on Aug. 30 after an alleged hit-skip accident in Aurora. He was cited for driving with a suspended license, failing to stop after an accident and possession of marijuana. He was released on bond.

Car strikes pole: A Stow woman was cited Aug. 27 at 6:05 p.m. after police said she lost control on Aurora-Hudson Road, struck a utility pole and went into a ditch. No injuries were reported.

Failure to yield: A North Royalton man was cited for failing to yield Aug. 26 at 5:15 p.m. after police said he pulled from a private driveway onto South Aurora Road and struck a Sagamore Hills woman's passing vehicle. No injuries were reported.

Rear-end crash: An Aurora man was cited Aug. 25 at 10:10 a.m. for assured clear distance after police said he struck an Aurora woman's car from behind on Route 82 at Aurora Commons Drive. No injuries were reported.

Collision: A University Heights woman was cited Aug. 28 at 3:35 p.m. for not driving in marked lanes after police said she struck a Warrensville Heights man's car while being in the wrong lane at Routes 306 and 82. No injuries were reported.
