Aurora Police Reports-Aug. 3

Merchandise theft: An Akron woman was charged with receiving stolen property July 21 for allegedly taking merchandise worth $5.36 from a South Chillicothe Road business. Police located the woman and another Akron woman nearby after they fled the store. The second woman was released.

Phone lost, found: A Perry woman reported July 20 that her cell phone was either lost or stolen while she was in Aurora. It was valued at $600, and she later reported someone found it and returned it to her.

Trespassing: Four men and three woman from Twinsburg and three men and one woman from Aurora were cited for trespassing July 23 after they were found on property on Squires Road posted with "no trespassing" signs. They were released from custody.

Vehicle damage: A Mantua man reported damage to his vehicle July 26. Police said a neighbor hit a rock with his lawn mower and the rock struck the parked vehicle. No value of the damage was given. The Mantua man was advised to report the incident to his insurance agency, and the other man supplied his homeowner's insurance info.

An Akron man reported July 14 that his car was scuffed by another vehicle while parked at Aurora Farms Premium Outlets. Police could find no witnesses to the incident. No estimate of damage was given.

DUI citation: During a traffic stop for speeding July 22 at 6:30 p.m. on Treat Road, an Aurora man was cited for speeding and driving under the influence. Police said he had three prior DUIs in the last 20 years. His vehicle was towed.

Rear-end crashes: Police cited a Reminderville man for assured clear distance July 22 at 10:50 a.m. after police said he hit a parked vehicle from behind on Orchard Avenue.

A Brecksville man was cited for assured clear distance July 16 at 12:30 p.m. after police said he rear-ended a Cuyahoga Falls man's vehicle on South Aurora Road.

A Mantua woman was cited for assured clear distance July 25 at 5:10 p.m. after police said she rear-ended a Mantua man's car on East Garfield Road. No injuries were reported in any of the above three incidents.

Sign struck: No citation was issued July 22 after police said a Mantua woman backed into a street identification sign at East Garfield Road and Shawnee Trail. No injuries were reported.

Failure to yield: A Painesville man was cited for failing to yield July 27 at 11:35 a.m. after police said he pulled from a gas station at Routes 43 and 82 and struck a passing Streetsboro woman's vehicle. No injuries were reported.

A Mantua man was cited for failing to yield July 22 at 1:55 p.m. after police said he turned from Route 82 onto Route 43 and struck a Mantua woman's vehicle. No injuries were reported.

Two-car crash: Police investigated a crash July 23 at 11:15 p.m. on Old Mill Road. They said a Sagamore Hills man crossed the center line and struck a tree, then went head-on into an Aurora man's vehicle which was traveling in the opposite direction. The Sagamore Hills man's vehicle ended up on the hood of the Aurora man's car. The Aurora man was transported by helicopter and the Sagamore Hills man and a passenger were treated at the scene. No citations were issued.
