Circle 3H will convene

The Church in Aurora's Circle 3H will assemble backpacks for school children at its Aug. 1 meeting. Donations of colored pencils, backpacks, markers and glue are welcome and can be placed in a container in the Great Hall. Church members John and Marge Wolf recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.

Memorial services will be Aug. 8 at 3 p.m. for Bob Williams and Aug. 23 at 10:30 a.m. for Roger Pease at the church.

The following volunteers helped at the July 14 bloodmobile: Winnie Tucker, Pat Scott, Sue Sutton, Margaret Wise and Flip Eavenson. The missions of the month for August are the Haven of Rest serving the Akron area and Mercy Ships, a global charity that operates a fleet of hospital ships in developing nations.

Sale support is lauded

Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Bainbridge thanks the community for support of the July 10-12 rummage sale.

"We are so grateful that we live in a wonderful, generous community," said the Rev. Jon Weaver. "The rummage sale has always been supported by folks in the Chagrin Valley and Aurora. That support goes a long way to helping our youth raise funds for the National Youth Gathering next summer in Detroit."

The National Youth Gathering is an Evangelical Lutheran Church in America- sponsored event held every three years. An anticipated 35,000 will attend.

Baptist cleanup set

An all-church work day is planned Aug. 16 at First Baptist to get the building ready for the preschool year. It will begin at 8:30 a.m. Alex Sosler will preach Aug. 17, and a My First School preschool meet and greet will be Aug. 23 at 6 p.m. so families can meet their child's teacher.

Trio baptized at CCC

Tammy James, her son Nickolas and Jeff New were baptized July 27 at Christ Community Chapel-Aurora.

The men's group will watch the Cleveland Indians-Detroit Tigers game Sept. 2 at 7:05 p.m. at Progressive Field. Tickets at $18 each will be available starting Aug. 3.

A summer evening on the lawn will be Aug. 10 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Hudson campus. There will be live music, an ice cream sundae bar, infaltables and games for children.

Kyle Idleman, a teaching pastor at Southeast Christian Church and author of "Not a Fan," will speak Aug. 29 at 7 p.m. at the Hudson campus. Cost is $5 per person.

Dinner, show planned

A dinner and talent show is planned Aug. 16 at 6 p.m. at Bainbridge Community United Church of Christ. Tickets are $15 per person or $5 for children under 5.

The dinner will be meat and vegetarian lasagna, salad and dessert. All proceeds benefit the missions and ministries of the church at 17751 Chillicothe Road.

UM plans game night

Aurora United Methodist men's ministry's family night at the Lake Erie Captains will be Aug. 13 at 7 p.m. at Classic Park in Eastlake. Those wishing to go should make reservations with payments by Aug. 3 to Randy Adams.

Other coming events are: July 30 -- TOPS at 6 p.m.; Aug. 3 -- communion Sunday during 10:30 a.m. worship service and Sunday school at 9:30 a.m.; Aug. 5 -- praise team rehearsal from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Ministries seeking aid

Our Lady of Perpetual Help parish is looking for people interested in a ministry of praise and a new liturgical ministry of greeters. If interested, call Sister Lu Haidnick at the church at ext. 222 or email lhaidnick@olphaurora.org.

Eucharistic ministers also are needed for the new Reflections at Anna Maria. Notify Haidnick if interested.

A baptismal preparation session will be Aug. 6 at 7 p.m. in Room 201. Call the parish office to register. Attendance at a session is necessary before a baptism date can be scheduled.

To qualify for lower early registration fees, PSR forms must be returned by Aug. 18 to the parish office.
