Theft: An Akron female juvenile was charged with theft and possessing criminal tools April 23 after police said she took items worth $132 from a South Chillicothe Road store without paying. She was released to her mother.

Summons for theft: A summons was issued April 26 to a Cleveland man for theft after he allegedly took an item worth $95 from a local store. He was escorted off the property and advised not to return or he would be charged with criminal trespass.

Two charged: A Cleveland woman was charged with receiving stolen property and possessing criminal tools and a Newburgh Heights woman was charged with receiving stolen property, criminal trespass and possessing criminal tools on April 29. Police said they were in possession of items worth $290 taken from a South Chillicothe Road store. They were taken to the Portage County Jail.

Loose dogs: Someone reported April 28 that two dogs were loose on Parkview Drive. An officer located the owner and the dogs were caught. The owner was warned about having dogs at large. On April 26, animal control was called out to pick up a loose dog on Moneta Avenue. On April 26 also on Moneta Avenue, a man reported his wife was nearly bitten by a loose dog. An officer located and warned the owner, who said the dog had broken free from its tether.

Warrant surrendered: An Orange Village man turned himself in April 25 on a warrant for domestic violence after an altercation with his ex-girlfriend. He was booked and later released on bond. The victim did not request medical attention.

Animal complaint: A Bryce Avenue resident reported April 23 he suspected there was a rabid raccoon in his back yard. Animal control was called to pick up the animal.

Junk vehicle: An East Pioneer Trail man was cited April 26 with storing a junk vehicle on his property.

Suspicious vehicles: Someone reported April 30 at 12:50 a.m. that unknown vehicles were parked in a Page Road lot. An officer discovered the vehicles belonged to employees of the business. An Emerald Court woman reported April 25 at 9:30 p.m. a vehicle drove by her house several times. An officer discovered it was a pizza deliveryman searching for a delivery address. Someone reported April 27 at 11:20 p.m. a suspicious vehicle on the side of West Garfield Road. An officer found the driver pulled over to send a text message.

TRAFFIC-RELATED CASES

Deer killed: A woman reported April 29 that she struck a deer on South Chillicothe Road. The service department was advised to remove the carcass.

Rear-end crash: A Ravenna woman was cited for assured clear distance April 28 after police said she struck a Canfield man's vehicle from behind on South Chillicothe Road at Kingston Drive. No injuries resulted.

Failure to yield: A Twinsburg man was cited for failing to yield April 26 after he entered Route 43 from Aurora Lake Road and struck a southbound vehicle driven by a Burton female juvenile. No injuries resulted.

Left the scene: A Brooklyn man was cited for failing to control, leaving the scene of an accident and driving under suspension April 27. Police said the man struck a parked vehicle on East Boulevard, drove onto a lawn and struck a street sign, then left the scene. He was located shortly later and charged. No injuries resulted.
