Domestic violence: A Bedford man was charged with domestic violence Feb. 23 after police said he punched his wife in the face and pushed her out of a car while it was moving on North Aurora Road near Fairview Drive. He also was charged with possession of a controlled substance, and was taken to the Portage County Jail. The woman declined medical attention.

Warrant arrests: A Garfield Heights woman was picked up Feb. 25 on a failure to appear in court for a theft charge. She posted bond and was released. On Feb. 21, another Garfield Heights woman was picked up on a failure to appear warrant for driving under suspension, posted bond and was released.

Scam averted: An Aurora man reported Feb. 19 that he received a call from an unknown female asking for bond money. The call was disconnected. The man was advised that it was a scam and never to give personal information over the phone.

Forced entry: A Sherwood Drive woman reported Feb. 23 that she noticed a rear door in her home was broken and it appeared that someone forced it open to gain entry. Nothing was reported missing or out of place in the home or garage.

Stray dog: A stray dog was reported Feb. 24 in the area of East Boulevard. The owner was located and picked up the animal.

Suspicious person: Someone reported Feb. 25 a woman was sitting in a parked car crying on Page Road. An officer discovered she had just learned of the death of a friend and didn't want her children to see that she was upset. She eventually continued home.

Suspicious vehicle: Someone reported Feb. 26 that a parked vehicle was running on Barrington Boulevard. An officer discovered the driver was having transmission problems and was letting the car warm up before continuing on his way.

TRAFFIC-RELATED CASES

Deer struck: A woman reported Feb. 24 she hit a deer on South Bissell Road and it was injured on the side of the road. Police destroyed the animal and the service department was summoned to dispose of it.

Failure to yield: An Aurora man was cited Feb. 19 after he backed out of a private driveway onto East Boulevard and struck an Aurora woman's passing car. No injuries resulted.

Improper backing: A Florida man backed from a parking space at 30 Shawnee Trail on Feb. 21 and struck a Michigan man's vehicle which was stopped on the road. No injuries resulted.

Minor mishap: Police said a Mantua man, who was stopped in traffic on South Chillicothe Road waiting to turn left into a driveway, was struck on the bumper by a Maple Heights man's vehicle, causing minor damage to the tail light area. No citation was issued.

Road blocked: A person reported Feb. 20 that a utility trailer was blocking Kimberly Drive. The driver was contacted by police and moved the unit.
