Assaults: An Aurora man was charged with assault Dec. 24 after a physical altercation with his sister on Southwick Lane. He was taken to the Portage County Jail. The victim did not seek medical attentioin. An Aurora woman was charged with assault Dec. 25 after allegedly burning another woman’s hand with a cigar at a Southwick Lane residence. The victim visited a medical facility for treatment.
Noise complaint: An East Pioneer Trail resident reported Dec. 27 hearing extremely loud mechanical noises for the past few days. An officer found it was a crew legally operating a grinder to shred tree branches.
Harassment: A Cambridge Drive woman reported Dec. 27 receiving unsigned harassing letters in her mailbox complaining about putting out her trash on Christmas Day.
Duck thievery: A Sweet Grass Circle caller reported Jan. 5 that someone stole a cement duck statue from the yard. No value was given.
Warrant arrest: A Euclid man was picked up by Aurora police Jan. 2 on a warrant for failing to appear in court. He was taken to the Portage County Jail.
Domestic violence: A Geauga Lake area man was charged with domestic violence Jan. 2 after allegedly pushing his wife. He was taken to the Portage County Jail. The victim did not seek medical attention.
Broom theft: A Bryce Avenue woman reported Jan. 3 a lock on her shed was broken and a broom was stolen.
Trespassing: An officer told a female Jan. 2 at 7:45 p.m. that she was in an East Mennonite Road park after hours and should leave.
Animal welfare: The dog warden was called Jan. 1 to pick up a canine from a Crackel Road location because it was outside in extremely cold weather. The owner was given a warning for cruelty to animals. The dog later was released to the owner.
Animal problem: A Windward Drive woman reported Dec. 31 that her dog was trapped under a neighbor’s deck. She called back and said the dog had been freed.
Water pipe woes: A Hampton Circle woman reported Jan. 8 a water pipe burst at her home and she needed assistance turning off the water. She was referred to businesses that could handle the problem.
Parking complaint: A Bryce Avenue resident reported Dec. 28 a neighbor was parking in the street making it difficult for him to get out of his driveway. An officer found the car was parked legally.
Disorderly conduct: Someone reported Dec. 26 that two men were fighting in a Barrington Town Square parking lot over a parking space. By the time an officer arrived, one party had left.
Strange noises: An Ironwood Circle woman reported Jan. 6 hearing strange noises outside her house. An officer discovered it was the house settling in the cold weather.
TRAFFIC-RELATED CASES
Car strikes pole: No injuries resulted and no citation was issued Jan. 2 when a Cleveland Heights man struck a utility pole on Route 306.
Rear-end crash: A Twins-burg man was cited Dec. 31 for assured clear distance after police said he struck a Bedford man’s vehicle from behind at Routes 43 and 82. No injuries resulted.
Slides on snow: A Mantua male juvenile was not injured or cited Dec. 31 when he slid on snow on Parker Road and went into a ditch.
Rear-end crash: A Streetsboro man was cited Dec. 30 for assured clear distance after police said he struck another Streetsboro man’s car at Route 43 and Pioneer Trail. One driver was treated at the scene by paramedics.
Crash: A Streetsboro man was taken to Cleveland Clinic-Twinsburg on Dec. 30 after he changed lanes and struck the rear of a Hiram man’s vehicle and pushed it into a Mantua woman’s vehicle at Routes 82 and 306.
Sideswipe incident: A Solon man was cited for not driving in marked lanes Jan. 4 after he changed lanes and sideswiped a Euclid woman’s vehicle at Routes 43 and 306. No injuries resulted.
Red light violation: A Mantua man was cited for ignoring a red light Dec. 30 at Routes 82 and 306 after he struck a Stow man’s crossing vehicle. No injuries resulted.
Rear-end crash: A Mantua woman was cited Dec. 29 for assured clear distance after she struck a Mantua man pulling a trailer from behind on East Garfield Road. No injuries resulted.
Deer killed: A caller reported Dec. 27 that a deer was hit by a car and was laying on North Aurora Road. It was moved to the side and later picked up by the service department.
Backup crash: A Michigan man was cited Dec. 28 for improper backing after he backed from a parking space on Shawnee Trail and struck an Indiana man’s vehicle. No injuries resulted.
Red light violation: A Streetsboro man was cited Dec. 28 for ignoring a red light after he struck another Streetsboro man’s vehicle on South Chillicothe Road. No injuries resulted.
