Wallet theft: A Reminderville man reported Feb. 18 that his wallet was stolen while he was at an Aurora establishment the day before. It contained his license and credit cards. No value was given.
Fraud: A Devon Pond woman reported Feb. 14 receiving phone calls regarding a sweepstakes, but requiring her to provide money in advance. She was instructed not to respond to the calls. Also on Feb. 14, a North Chillicothe Road man reported someone used his identity to receive medical treatment.
Barking dogs: After receiving multiple calls Feb. 15 about a barking dog on Fox Run Trail, an officer contacted the owner and requested that the dog be brought inside. The same day, a Cobblestone Road resident reported a neighbor's dog barking constantly. An officer could not locate the dog.
Open doors: An officer secured a vacant home on Claridge Lane on Feb. 14 after a report that a door was open. A door at a vacant house on Brandon Circle also was reported open Feb. 19, and a realtor was contacted to secure the house.
Suspicious person: Officers checked a report Feb. 15 of a person walking around in a South Chillicothe Road neighborhood for a long period time, but could not locate anybody.
Alarm engaged: A Chesterton Court resident reported Feb. 17 his neighbor's car alarm was going off and he was concerned because of many recent thefts from cars in the city. The alarm apparently was triggered accidentally, and the owner turned it off.
Wandering child: A young child visiting a home on East Pioneer Trail wandered off Feb. 17 and was spotted by an officer, who returned the child to the home. No charges were filed.
Disorderly conduct: An Aurora man was charged Feb. 17 with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest after he damaged his mother's home in the Geauga Lake area. He was taken to the Portage County Jail.
Dog on loose: A caller reported Feb. 19 that a large dog was running loose at Bissell and Garfield roads. An officer could not locate the animal.
TRAFFIC-RELATED CASES
Backing mishap: No injuries were reported and no citations issued Feb. 15 after police said an Aurora female juvenile backed out of a driveway on Devorah Drive and struck an Akron man's vehicle which was parked on the street.
Rear-end crash: No injuries resulted and no citations were issued Feb. 16 when police said a Streetsboro woman struck an Aurora woman's car from behind on East Garfield Road.
Trucking complaints: Drivers of heavy trucks from a construction site in the Reminderville-Geauga Lake area were given verbal warnings three times on Feb. 15 and 18 about the city's no-through trucking ordinance after complaints were received from Orchard Avenue residents.
