Jewelry theft: Police are investigating the theft of $75,000 worth of jewelry from a home on the north side of town, which was reported Jan. 10.

Domestic incident: An Aurora man was charged with domestic violence Jan. 16 after police said he hit his wife at their home in the Geauga Lake area. He was taken to the Portage County Jail. The victim declined medical attention.

Car theft: An Aurora woman reported Jan. 13 that after returning to her home after a morning walk, her vehicle was gone. She told police she believes it was unlocked and the keys possibly were left inside. No value of the vehicle was given.

Lawn damaged: Police said a Garrettsville woman drove onto a lawn on North Aurora Road on Jan. 12 as a result of foggy conditions. No damage estimate was given, and no injuries resulted.

Merchandise theft: An Akron man was charged with theft and an Akron woman was charged with theft and possessing criminal tools Jan. 10 in connection with a theft at a South Chillicothe Road business. Two other Akron women were given summonses for theft, possessing criminal tools and receiving stolen property. Total value of he items taken was $2,149.

Loud music: A Page Road resident reported Jan. 13 that loud music was coming from vehicles parked across the street. An officer responded and told the culprits to keep the volume down. On Jan. 15, a Lookout Point resident reported loud music coming from a vehicle in a neighbor's driveway. All was quiet when an officer responded.

Doorbell prank: A Sandover Drive resident reported Jan. 15 that someone rang the doorbell and left. An officer could not locate any suspects

Man hit by ice: A motorist reported Jan. 12 that as he was driving home on East Pioneer Trail, a chunk of ice flew up from the road, came through his open window and hit him in the head. He declined medical attention.

Ruckus in store: A clerk in a South Chillicothe Road store reported Jan. 12 a group of males were causing a disturbance. An officer responded and warned the suspects, who agreed to leave.

Fender-bender: Officers investigated a vehicle accident Jan. 10 at North Aurora and Treat roads. An Aurora man said a vehicle driven by a woman changed lanes without signaling and the man hit her. Both drivers stopped, the woman exited and yelled at the man and then drove away without exchanging information.
