Cedar Fair, the owner of the property formerly occupied by Geauga Lake Park, Sea World and Wildwater Kingdom has announced that the 91-year-old Big Dipper roller coaster along Route 43 on the property will be demolished — probably within a couple of weeks.

The coaster was erected in 1925 and is a John A. Miller-designed ride.

The property has seen many trespassers in recent months, and officials fear for the safety of those who try to climb up on the roller coaster.

Aurora city and Bainbridge Township officials are hoping that the property will be redeveloped under mixed-use zoning. A master plan for the 600-plus total acres is expected to be completed around the end of October.
